Board of Directors

Han Kim

Han Kim is a General Partner and co-founder of Altos Ventures, focusing on investments in the areas of software and business services. He also concentrates on companies with significant business in Asia, leveraging the firm’s substantial contacts in the region, particularly in Korea. Han currently serves on the board of Blogcocktail, Bluehole, CalmSea, Kreditfly, Lohika, OutSpark, Pandora.tv, Provade, Nable Communications, SeeControl, Spicus and TVU Networks, and works closely with Vesta Corporation. He also led the firm’s prior investments in DemandTec (Nasdaq: DMAN), Instill (acquired by iTradeNetwork), Digital Market (acquired by Agile Software), Evant (acquired by Manhattan Associates),and iOwn (acquired by Citigroup).

Before founding Altos Ventures in 1996, Han worked at Booz Allen & Hamilton solving strategic and operational issues for global media, retail and distribution companies. Previously, he was at Procter & Gamble. Han also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Han served two years in Korea, commanding both U.S. and Korean soldiers.

Han received an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Allen Miner

Allen Miner is a founder/General Partner of SunBridge Partners and the founder/CEO of SunBridge Corporation. Allen has significant experience in Internet, enterprise and open-source software, entrepreneurship, and international technology transfer. Allen has been actively involved in each of the firm’s investments resulting in numerous successful IPOs, including salesforce.com, MacroMill, ITMedia and G-Mode, among others. Allen is currently a member of the Board of Directors of salesforce Japan.

Allen graduated from Brigham Young University with degrees in Computer Science and Asian Studies. He joined Oracle Corporation in 1986 and was dispatched to Japan, where he founded and helped lead Oracle Japan to a successful IPO on the Japan stock market. Allen returned from Japan in 1996 to serve as Oracle’s Vice President in charge of Linux/Open Source.

Allen created SunBridge Corporation in 1999. Allen currently serves on the Boards of several SunBridge portfolio companies and as an advisor to government-affiliated organizations focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Japan Venture Capital Association upon its founding in 2002.

Cindy Padnos

Cindy Padnos is the founding Managing Director of Illuminate Ventures, focusing primarily on SaaS/cloud computing, big data/real-time analytics, Internet, technology-enabled services and mobile applications investments. Cindy currently serves as a director of privately held companies BrightEdge, CalmSea, Wild Pockets and Xactly Corporation.

Prior to founding Illuminate, Cindy was a Director of Outlook Ventures where she was one of three investment professionals responsible for committing the firm’s $140M fund. Before entering the venture capital community Cindy gained almost 20 years of operational experience culminating in her role as founder and CEO of Vivant, an innovative SaaS company, where she successfully led this venture-backed company to its acquisition (EVLV). Prior positions include roles as President and CEO of Acumen (M&A), founding vice president of marketing at Scopus Technology (IPO) and management positions at IDE, Ingres and AT&T. Earlier in her career Cindy also served as a management consultant with Arthur D. Little and Booz, Allen & Hamilton.

Cindy earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, at the University of Michigan and her MBA/MSIA with honors from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business. She serves on the Board of Advisors for the Tepper School, Project Olympus and for Astia. Cindy is active in a number of other organizations that support entrepreneurship. Most recently she was honored to be named one of Fast Company’s Most Influential Women in Technology.

Jim Dai, Chief Executive Officer

Jim is the CEO and founder of CalmSea Inc. Jim has 25 years of experience in software industry, with a proven track record of delivering quality product and services to customers. Before founding CalmSea Inc, Jim was an entrepreneur-in-residence at Altos Ventures. Prior to that, Jim was the Sr. Vice President of Products for DemandTec, responsible for Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Customer Support and IT. Jim was instrumental in DemandTec’s successful IPO in 2007. Prior to joining DemandTec, Jim held executive management positions at Siebel, Vivant!, DoubleTwist, Informix and Oracle.

Jim holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters Degree in Management from Stanford University.

Vivek Subramanian, Vice President of Products

Vivek is co-founder of CalmSea and responsible for product management and strategy. Vivek brings a depth of experience in delivering best-of-breed enterprise and analytical applications to market. Prior to CalmSea, Vivek held senior product management positions at Oracle and Siebel, where he managed the Siebel Marketing and Analytics Segmentation product lines. During his tenure the product lines grew sixty percent in revenues and moved into leadership positions in analyst ratings. Vivek started his career as an engineer, instrumental in building some of Siebel’s leading products like Siebel Analytics, Marketing Automation and CRM OnDemand.

Vivek holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelors in Computer Science from BITS Pilani in India.
